Did anyone need us? Just look for the two girls yelling at each other about the New Mutants movie announcement. We’re all about the classic and the new and the new new, but our forever girl Dani Moonstar will always be the ultimate in kickpunching and love. A style salute to her in valkyria, to urban casual leathers, to throwing down for a full round in the Sienkiewicz demon bear arena of dreams.

We’re always a little California dreamin’ when it comes to our favourite Miss Jubilation Lee, and not even a dash of vampirism will dampen these spirits. With the announcement that she’s been added to the cast of X-Men: Apocalypse, we’re super hype to see our little loudmouth grace the screen again. (Are we also super hype to see what this girl is gonna wear? Maybe.) Meanwhile, some character colourpop lightens up into easy wear pastels, and her sleek modern black (and the occasional sleeve if you must) to brave the day.

We are all about highfiving each other inside our brains, pinkies up. It’s a bit of what we do here; call it the house brand, if you will. So when Katsucon came around and our British cosplay sister was coming over to nerd party it up with us, it was only natural to be Anna, listen. There is this thing we need to do.
Pinkies up, ladies.

The X-Men will always have our hearts, so when we were tapped for the Giant 90s X-Men Photoshoot at DragonCon this year, it wasn’t hard to say yes — especially since we were asked to be Jubilee and Dani Moonstar. (Just ask us sometime about how we feel about the next gens of X-Men.)
As always, the shoot was definitely a commitment and involved several long hours under the hot sun but we had a blast! There’s nothing quite like getting to be a part of something like this. Every single one of these cosplayers totally brought their A-Game to the shoot and it shows. We’re glad to have been part of it!

Like I’ve said before, Dani Moonstar is one of my favorite Marvel characters and oh man was I excited to get to cosplay her at Dragon*Con this year! When I was doing my research into her Valkyrie looks, I noticed that she rarely wore the same version of the costume more than a few times. This was good because a) it gave me more artistic freedom with the different elements and b) it meant there was an easy way to cope with different climates. I could wear the leotard version for hot-as-heck summer cons or the full bodysuit version on colder days.
This worked out pretty well about a month ago when I went with some friends to local park to do some photoshoots. When my original costume plan fell through a few days before, this seemed like a great option. We all had a great time despite getting some weird looks from other park-goers and I had a ton of fun working with Jeremy.

(And yes, if anyone was wondering, my hair/braids are significantly shorter than they were in the previous pictures. My much needed hair cut was poorly timed.)
