I wasn’t kidding when I said closet cosplay.
But don’t worry — there’ll be a ~real~ version for a convention soon enough.
Until then, enjoy this small preview for Jaeger Con!

Sometimes, you just have to close your eyes and let a costume happen. Tendo Choi is the biracial Shatterdome technician after my own heart. The only way this costume could have been more perfect for me is if, you know, he’d been a girl. But hey, that’s what genderswapped costuming is for! I’ll just be over here with a pompadour in my hair and double fisting coffee mugs for the foreseeable future.
Update: Now with bonus bagel and double-fisted Starbucks
Ladies. Gentlemen. Heyyyyyy. ;)

It’s time to suit up. Taking cues from the black and blues of Mako Mori, but let’s kick this outfit to the streets — a little bit sharp for the last days of war, because the brightest and best puts a sword in both hands and dives right off the deep end.
As co-pilot of the Gipsy Danger mech in Pacific Rim, she wears the colours of war on her sleeve, and I went a little do-it-yourself with the pilot jacket motif. Chain sword running up the arms; kaiju kill count on the right breast; the vow of a swordmaker’s daughter on her back. The sword itself, though, is all her own.
Watashi no kazoku no tame ni.

We’re all about equal opportunity when it comes to Team Hot Dads and that obviously includes Herc Hansen. Of course, we can’t neglect his son Chuck so I’m pretty sure that calls for a shopping list inspired by the Hansens and Striker Eureka.
The look here is pretty simple to emulate: pair a plain grey t-shirt with some jeans or olive military-esque pants, add some combat boots, and then a jacket and you’re set.
And then accessorize with a bull dog. No really. This is crucial.
Nasty Gal T-shirt + Rag and Bone Jacket + Lucky Brand Vest + Old Navy T-shirt
French Connection Bulldog Shirt + Umbrella + Striker Eureka Dog Tags + Free People Patched Pants
Steve Madden Boots + Kenneth Cole Leather Jacket + Old Navy Military Jacket + Crown Vintage Sky Boots
