It’s that time of year again but *sobs* Bria is flying solo again this year for our favorite nerd gathering. But hey! She’s still suiting up in aaaaaall the Star Wars costumes. Come say hi if you see her.
In addition to the costumes below, you can also see Bria on several panels on the Star Wars track!
Star Wars Rebels – Friday @ 4pm – Marriott A706
Star Wars Legends to Canon – Friday @ 5:30pm – Marriott A706
Star Wars New Military and Political Climate – Monday @ 11:30am – Marriott A706
One of the best things about Dragon Con is that you can pull together some pretty amazing costume groups because some of the best cosplayers around bring their A-Game to the con. My friend Ned and I assembled a pretty fun group of Original Trilogy costumes last year for Dragon Con but this year… this year we went all out and got people from the entire freaking Saga.
While we didn’t have quite as full of a group as we’d hoped, we’re still really freaking pleased with how things turned out. Plus, I had an excuse to make one of my favorite Leia costumes! Spray painting that poncho was way more fun than you’d think. I want to wear this costume forever.
I can’t wait to get some better shots of the costume out in the woods or something but for now, have some awesome moments from our giant photoshoot that we had to shift from the Hilton lobby because we were literally stopping traffic.

Seventh Sister has been on my costume list since we first saw her in the very first trailer for Season 2 of Star Wars Rebels. I loved her and her little seeker droids and how delightfully evil she is. It only made since that she’d be my first real villain with a helmet and everything. I was really glad that I was able to pull together Version 1 for Dragon Con and I can’t wait to start making upgrades, redo the armor, and hopefully have Version 2 ready to go sometime soon!
A huge thank you to Justin from Rich and Strange Photography for doing a quick shoot with me in a hallway in the depths of the basement and also to Jonathan Baker for a) holding my stuff/making sure I didn’t run into anything and b) taking some awesome pictures at Dragon Con 2016!
The helmet is by AtlisArmory and the rest of the costume was made by me. The Asajj Ventress in the one picture is the awesome Miss Sinister who I absolutely loved getting to pose with!
Let me count the ways in which I love this dress… oh wait I can’t because we don’t have enough time or page space. Needless to say, I adore Catherine Elhoffer’s work and had to think for approximately 10 seconds before ordering her amazing Rey dress. I’ve gotten compliments every time I’ve worn it over the past few months and OMG IT HAS POCKETS! I’ve now worn this to be a panelist at Escape Velocity and Dragon Con and it just might become my default.
Rey Dress: Elhoffer Design
Rey Cuff: ThinkGeek
Earrings: Nine West
Silver Sandals: Cole Haan
Thank you to the ever amazing Rich and Strange Photography for the pictures because a dress as good as this definitely needed to be shot by a photographer as good as him!
I’m back from Dragon Con! Tragically, it was only half the fun this year since Lin couldn’t make it but it was still a fabulous time! Recovery mode is still a go but in the mean time, have a little teaser of those fabulous four days of fun! (Yes, I kinda totally failed at taking selfies this year. My bad.)
