HAPPY PADMÉ DAY!!! If you somehow didn’t know, Queen’s Shadow by E.K. Johnston is out today and stars Padmé and her incredible handmaidens and it is SO VERY GOOD! (I have a lot of feels about all of those women.) Please go buy yourself a copy and read it. Trust me, you won’t regret it.
Anyways, I’ve had this gorgeous scarf from Prophecy Girl for ages and today feels like the right day for an outfit featuring it. This! Is! Padmé! Week!

This wasn’t going to be a White Hot Room outfit. I usually aim for something a little less casual but dangit, I felt cute so I posted pictures to Twitter and then Lin was all “Hey you should post them to WHR” and here we are.

Clint Barton isn’t great at many things, but he’s got a few skills nailed down — “I’M GREAT AT BOATS” became something of a rallying cry for my nears and dears during NYCC 2012, so I designed this tank in fond memory of. Flying a geek flag on the low-low? I’m totally profesh.
We’re channeling a full-on Hawkguy here, but with a stylin’ uptwist. We got the beanie and the smell test wifebeater and the Converse hightops — street level beat-em-ups with a blazer thrown on, and always with the purple.

Special thanks to Mandy for providing invaluable styling tips for this look and shirt design. She’s so street, you guys.
It’s Hawkeye Week, bro. In honour of the new story arc debuting this week, we decided to fly our purple pennants — so check back in with us every day as we class up this joint like Kate Bishop, party like Tracksuit Dracula, and make embarrassingly coordinated kitchenware like Clint Barton.
What’s that? Your beloved ladies have teamed up for a fashion shoot in honour of Young Avengers being relaunched this week? Indeed we have! What you’re seeing is actually the result of separate photoshoots on our respective sides of the border, but the intent was there nonetheless.
This is actually the start of a miniseries we’ll be doing over the next few weeks — Marvel NOW! is launching some books that we’re pretty darn psyched about, so we thought we’d honour their releases with outfits inspired by members of the team. As always, you’ll see our personal touches, i.e. Bria is a totally classy dame and Lin is just going to be this douchebag trainwreck. Enjoy.
This Week: Young Avengers by Kieron Gillen and Jamie McKelvie!
Lin: Everybody has an elemental weakness to Jamie McKelvie designs. Urban savvy brow-quirked assholes are a fashion template close to my stupid dumb heart, so here’s to checking off the box next to ‘America Chavez’ and her super rad kicks. While her redesign is pretty much the current gold standard in street utilitarian, I’m on this fancy hoodie + blazer twist with a headfake toward her creative team’s British roots.
Bria: I started by grabbing more or less all of the gold jewelry I own. I think only an extra pair of earrings and a headband were put back. Obviously I wanted to stick to his green/black/gold colour palette because, y’know, visual cues. My other goal was to use layers while simultaneously keeping things sleek and chic. With bonus ridiculous faces because how could I do a Loki outfit without the L-pose or asking Thor why the people I’m contacting via my Phone Of I are calling me a troll.
Coming Soon: Uncanny X-Force by Sam Humphries and Ron Garney! Also coming soon: more of our dumb faces. Don’t worry, we just got started on this magical train ride.
