Today (without much if any warning) Her Universe launched a brand new active wear collection at Kohl’s featuring pieces inspired by Batman, Wonder Woman, and Superman. Most pieces in the collection are available in regular and plus sizes. Expect to see the collection slowly start to make its way in stores while plus sizes will likely remain online exclusives. There are some super cute pieces in here and, if the quality is like their previous Avengers collection, it’s good work out gear too. (I’m still a huge fan of the capris and Black Widow sports bra.) For the DC collection, they’re offering a bit more variety with shorts, capris, jackets, sports bras, and multiple styles of tanks/shirts. It’s absolutely worth checking out and, were I betting woman, I’d say this is a good indicator that we’ll be seeing more Wonder Woman inspired pieces from Her Universe for the film’s release… [EDIT: Turns out I was right!]
You can view the entire collection over at Kohl’s.com and a selection of some of the pieces is below. Right now, the collection is on sale for 33% off and you can get an additional 20% off with the code BUYNOW through April 2nd.
It’s a sign of how great Hero Within is that we’ve featured them twice within a year. (We just keep tripping and featuring men’s geek fashion…) On Monday, they announced their brand new Justice League Summer Collection including some fantastic button-down shirts and an even better denim Wonder Woman jacket. The collection is currently available for preorder with expected delivery in May. If you’re attending Wonder Con this weekend, they’ll have samples on hand for you to try on and see in person. You can shop their collection on the Hero Within site.
Also worth noting is the blog post their CEO Tony B Kim wrote in regards to the hate slung their way by some people because of the Wonder Woman jacket. Let’s all remember that geek fashion is for everybody and that everyone should be able to wear geek gear featuring their favorite characters regardless of gender. I most definitely applaud Tony Kim for confronting this hate head on and reaffirming that there’s nothing wrong with men wearing a Wonder Woman jacket.
We don’t usually cover men’s fashion here but for these ThinkGeek jackets, we had to make an exception! Check out their brand new Hero Within collection. While there is also an okay Flash sweatshirt and a decent enough Green Lantern jacket, the real standouts are the Batman pieces. All three jackets (a blazer and two peacoats) have the bat logo cleverly hidden on the back via the seam lines as you can see below:
The inside lining is yellow with a far less Batman logo but as far as the outside is concerned, this is a perfect subtly nerdy piece! While we haven’t gotten our hands on any of these and can’t say for certain, the higher price point is a promising sign regarding the quality and it would definitely be worth ordering to see for sure if you’re interested.
You can see all three of the Batman offerings below and shop the entire Hero Within collection over at ThinkGeek.com!
It’s a good time to be a geek when it comes to the fashion world. Not only are companies like Her Universe and Black Milk routinely turning out fabulous geek inspired leggings, shirts, dresses, and such but other companies are starting to get the hint and to branch out a bit more. Recently, we’ve seen two companies launch new sections of their online stores.
Forever 21 now features a curated Marvel Collection. Of course, you’ll be quick to notice that the collection features more than just Marvel but instead generic comic inspired fashion along with pieces inspired by Batman, Superman, and even a Transformers t-shirt. We’ve previously featured some of the pieces within the collection but it’s great to see them all in one place and they’ve even included pieces that might not be directly comic book inspired but that could be great additions to your wardrobe to accentuate that perfect geek chic look.
On the other side, WeLoveFine (which is filled with geeky clothes anyways) now has a collection of nerdy undergarments featuring franchises like My Little Pony, the Justice League, and Adventure Time. The garments range from ladies’ boy shorts and briefs, men’s boxers, bandeau bras, and even a Lumpy Space Princess tutu. (Yes, you read that right.) Some of them are gosh darn adorable actually. Stock up your Batcave with some Batgear around the web! (Everything sounds cooler than you add Bat to the front of it, am I right?)
Leggings are fun way to spice up an outfit especially with all the retailers out there diving excitedly into this trend to offer shoppers tons of options. Romwe offers both the traditional Bat Symbol leggings along with a pair that feature the covers of various Batman comics over the years. Hot Topic also has a pair of leggings coming out on June 10th featuring the Dark Knight himself.
You can never go wrong with a t-shirt especially when it’s got the bat symbol on it. Again, Hot Topic has you covered with this grey striped tank and a gold foil t-shirt while Forever 21 has a distressed muscle tank.
If you’re more inclined towards something long-sleeve, ASOS has a long-sleeved crop shirt by River Island with a fun print. Top Shop has white sweatshirt with a Bat symbol pattern. To round things out, Forever 21 has a Heather Grey Raglan top, again with the Bat symbol.
Not feeling like wearing your Batlove on your body? You can always opt for a Batman (or a Wonder Woman) wallet from ThinkGeek!
Of course, if Batman’s not your thing, you can always pick up one of our Great At Boats shirts.
