It’s that time of year again! On Thursday, your esteemed editors will descend upon Atlanta for Dragon Con weekend — one of our favourite conventions, we’re ready to bring our cosplay best and party hard with all our beloved nerds! We’ll also be going on a bit of a hiatus until after the convention, but follow us on Instagram and Twitter for updates during this time.
Bria will also be on four Star Wars panels over the weekend, so you’ll find her panel times and topics along with our cosplay schedules!
FRIDAY – COSPLAY
Early Morning: aiming for the Geek Girls Run at 8:30AM, i.e. Bria will run and Lin will show up with Starbucks in hand
Morning: Bria and Lin will be joining our buddies as 90’s style Dani Moonstar and Jubilee for the big X-Men photoshoot!
Afternoon: we go cosmic with Lin reprising Quasar again, and Bria changing into Marasiah Fel for her panels
Evening: we’re gonna rep some Captain Marvel colours at the Carol Corps Meet-Up!

SATURDAY – PANELS – BRIA
Star Wars Track room (Marriott A706)
7PM: “Star Wars: Advanced Costuming”

Evening: our very favourite and best SHIELD party take no prisoners — Agent Hill and Agent Chang reporting for duty!
Please note that while we will be attending a number of photoshoots, they by no means dictate all of our free time; they’re included to show where our cosplay schedule is anchored. We will definitely be doing convention panels and other activities, including some very serious partying with our amazing SCF buddies!
So maybe some of their interpretations changed between The Clone Wars show and the Republic Commando books but I still have a stupidly strong love for these clones which makes me love this Her Universe shirt even more. It’s cute and comfy and with all the different helmet covers? It can pretty much go with anything!
Clone Helmet T-shirt: Her Universe
Black Miniskirt: The Limited
Pink Heels: Zara
Sunglasses: Coach
Gold/Pink Feather Earrings: Betsey Johnson
For sizing reference, Bria is wearing a Size Medium in the Clone Helmet shirt.
We’re counting down the days until nerd party weekend and getting ready to go all out…!! Two super hype events on our list are the Carol Corps gathering with Kelly Sue DeConnick and the Friday morning walk/run for those Into That Kind Of Thing (1), so we’re hoping to see all you cute nerds there and take like a billion selfies. I mean, what’s a Captain Marvel shindig if not an excuse to rep the colours?
So get in, we’re gonna last minute shop this thing like I don’t already have a closet full of stars. (2)
Star Necklace + “Higher Further Faster More” Tee + Colourblock Cardi
Pleated Midi Skirt + Ralph Lauren Sweater + Colourblock Mini Dress
Canon Wedge Bootie + Seat Buckle Belt + “Carol Corps” Tee
As always, a shoutout to Kelly Sue’s curated collection on We Love Fine for tees — we’re forever and a day in love with the logo tees and “Higher Further Faster More” because we’re happy to wear our superhero on our sleeves while showing what support we can.
Notes
1. IT MIGHT JUST BE BRIA. Lin will maybe stagger in near the finish to cheer her on. Possibly even 15 minutes late with Starbucks in hand. Don’t worry, Bria, I’ll have one for you, too.
[Bria’s Note: I’ll take a skinny vanilla latte with an extra shot, thanks.]
[Lin’s Note: oh my god, Bria.]
[Bria’s Note: Hey at least you can say my order in one breath!]
2. Not sure how to slap a star on it? For those sewing at home, it’s an easy do-it-yourself or just print out the stencil and a bit of gold paint will set you right. Seriously, just gold paint it if you can. It’s so easy.
Despite a hectic weekend, I’m back from Otakon with another magical girl transformation checked off the list! While there’s little time for rest and recovery mode with Dragon*Con fast approaching at the end of the month, here’s a few quick snaps to keep us going until full photosets can be shared.
Did somebody say selfies? Because: selfies. Awful selfies.
Actually, who are we kidding. It’s all sports anime. My camera files are nothing but sports anime, and I am so sorry.
But here’s something to make up for that.
When it comes to speculating what characters might wear from the runways of our world, it’s well established that I like to play favorites which means it’s time to take another look at Tenel Ka, Queen Mother of Hapes and Warrior of Dathomir. This time though, we’ll be looking at both sides of the
Dathomir’s aesthetic is very much informed by their culture of warrior clans. While no one would try and claim that any of the below looks by Burberry and Michael Kors are fitting for riding rancors, they definitely capture the feel of Dathomir.

Hapes, on the other hand, doesn’t embrace their hardcore warrior or snake skin side quite that much. Both this Versace and Zuhair Murad definitely give off a Hapan vibe with the fabric of the Zuhair Murad being something that would likely appeal to Tenel Ka.

While I recognize that this Versace isn’t something that Tenel Ka would jump at to wear, there are elements to it that I think would definitely fit with the Hapan look combined with Tenel Ka’s own preferences. In particular, I’m referring to the arm pieces and the hood and the skirt itself definitely reads Hapan.
For a bonus round, have this Valentino dress which I could see Tenel Ka wearing in a more casual Hapan setting that would still restrict her from dressing more Dathomiri.
