We first mentioned these a few months ago but have finally gotten a chance to do a shoot with the skirt! For Celebration 2015, Her Universe debuted two dresses featuring Cloud City and the Battle of Hoth. This fall, they collaborated with ModCloth to feature both as skirts in a similar cut to the lightsaber skirt but shorter. And, of course, because I had to get one because I’m me!
The skirt’s made of a silkier and lighter material than the original lightsaber skirt but I’m definitely a fan! It can be worn with or without a petticoat. (In the pictures, I’m wearing one.) I’ve worn it two or three times thus far and am definitely want to find more excuses to wear it.

We may have just gotten HerUniverse.com back but they’re already having a Spring Cleaning Sale! They’ve got a nice selection of Star Wars, Doctor Who, and Marvel pieces available and I pulled out a few of my favorites above. I can attest to how comfy the Imperial LOVE hoodie shirt is as I just bought one for myself a few weeks ago. Everything within the sale is 30% off and the rest of the site is 15% off right now. In other words… it’s a good time to pick up some more Her Universe pieces for a decent price if you’ve been considering it.
There’s a lot more to geek fashion than nerdy t-shirts but that doesn’t mean we don’t still love a great geeky shirt! We wanted to highlight two today: one from Her Universe and another from Jordandené.
Jordandené’s “Punch It Chewie” is her shirt of the month for February and you can get it as either a tank or a shirt. I have nothing but good things to say about how soft and comfy her shirts are!
As we mentioned in last week’s post, this is Her Universe’s Carrie Fisher tribute shirt. Obviously, it features our favorite Princess. More importantly though, all proceeds will benefit The Thalians, whose mission is to raise the funds it will take to educate and enlighten the world about mental illness, thereby eliminating the stigma attached to it. Carrie’s mother Debbie Reynolds was president of the organization for decades.
If this skirt looks somewhat familiar… that’s because it totally is! Her Universe recently partnered with ModCloth to offer their Lightsaber skirt, Bespin Dress, and Hoth Dress in a revamped style. They’re now available as slightly shorter skirts in (if my Hoth skirt is any indication) in a more lightweight fabric. They hit a little above the knee instead of below. We’ll talk more about the skirts via a WAYW post at some point but for now… lightsaber skirt outfit!
