It’s time for our annual pilgrimage to Atlanta for Dragon Con except, sadly, only one of us will be there this year. :( BUT LIN SHALL ATTEND IN SPIRIT.
As always, if you see Bria, please feel free to say hi! We love getting to talk to folks. :)
Morning: It’s Maria Hill time. Also time to chase Captain America off a Helicarrier
Star Wars Costuming – 4pm – Marriott A706: Have a costuming question? Swing by the Star Wars room and Bria and a panel of experts will help!
Star Wars Rebels – 5:30pm – Marriott A706: Catch Bria on a panel discussing Star Wars Rebels! There will totally be talk of #SpaceMarried and Thrawn!
Evening: Sai up because it’s Elektra time!
Morning/Afternoon: Jedi Mulan makes a return!
Afternoon/Evening: It’s Star Wars all the things as Bria debuts a new Leia costume for a group
New Characters We Already Know and Love – 10am – Marriott A706: Bria’s promised to not make this the Hux Hour. Apparently there are other characters to love. Like RAE SLOANE and Dr. Aphra. Oh yeah and Rey and Finn.
Afternoon: Jedi beware because Seventh Sister will be roaming the halls
Evening: There’s time for one last costume as Bria returns to the light side of the Force as Bespin!Leia.
I really, really like Taylor Swift.
It’s probably a good thing that my friends do, too.
This was supposed to be party gear, fun midnight girl gear; but it turned into one of the ones I loved wearing most. Maybe because 1989, et cie, is on loop forever in the background of our friendship in the best kind of way.
(We’re about kicking each through plate glass windows with love.)

I’ve gotten into a habit over the last year of taking my costuming stress and frustration and making a dress to help make myself feel better. (Having a huge box of fabric helps with this.) The week before Star Wars Celebration back in April was no different. It worked out pretty damn good since, well, I kinda got to meet Dave Filoni because of this dress.
The awesome Justin of Rich and Strange Photography was kind enough to take time out of his Dragon Con to do a photoshoot with me between my panels. (Sidebar: I swear to God that this dress is like magic.) I couldn’t be more happy with how the pictures turned out and am thrilled that I can finally share them here!

Oh and hey: I hear there’s a a little show coming back tonight… OH RIGHT THAT’S REBELS. Get excited for the Season Two premiere tonight on DisneyXD!
Okay so you just THINK that you’ve seen this costume before but NOT REALLY. No but seriously, it is. Previously on WHR, I borrowed most of Lin’s costume at the last minute. This year, for the A-Force shoot that one of our friends was planning, I decided to make my own jacket.
And avoid her Canadian torture device of a fleece sweatshirt in Atlanta during summer. After all, how could I not want to make a Miss. America costume after that issue of A-Force #1?

Thanks to all of the other ladies who showed up for the A-Force photoshoot and putting up with a very enthusiastic and slightly bossy impromptu director. (That wasn’t me nope not me.)
What’s a costumer to do when she’s done with her costumes over a week and a half early, has a relatively light costume schedule, and has a free Saturday? Do a build in under 10 hours obviously.
To be fair, I had been thinking my way through the construction of this costume for a while now simply because I thought it would be fun. The jacket and the grey belt took about six hours of work and I’m pretty happy with how they look! The only thing I would change would be to go back and figure out a way to build the red stripe into the fabric instead of top stitching it on. Oh, and include a rank insignia.
I’ll be honest: the other reason I made and wore this was because it felt so wrong NOT to bring a Winter costume to the convention… and yes I did flip through my X-Wing omnibuses to make sure that it was canon that she wore this!
