I have a Star Wars problem and by problem I mean that I’m all about the First Order. They’re going to put ‘First Order Trash Queen’ on my tombstone at this point.
Look this skirt is just really cute, okay?
Stormtrooper Skirt: Her Universe
Crop Top: Express
Black Heels: Ralph Lauren
The First Order may be the next generation of the Empire but that doesn’t stop them from getting a style upgrade. Just look at that new crest! And the new stormtrooper armor!
First Order Dress: Mighty Fine
Leather Jacket: H&M
Grey Tights: Hue
Black Pumps: BCBGeneration
A few notes on this dress: First, it’s very short. I’m 5’6″ (so a little over average height) and it juuuuust barely covers my butt. It may work better as a tunic/with leggings but heyyyyy fashion! In all seriousness, this is probably something that anyone above average height will want to avoid if you’re looking to wear this as a dress. There’s also a weird fit issue around the arm pits that’s been noted by several others. Short version: try this dress on in the store first. (It’s available at Macy’s.)
There’s a little film called Star Wars: The Force Awakens coming out this weekend and we’re going to celebrate the only way we know how: by throwing it a fashion party. So jump on board the Millenium Falcon because Chewie, we’re home.
Ever since Ashley Eckstein first mentioned that Her Universe was looking into expanding into cardigans, I’ve wanted a piece like this for my wardrobe. It’s chic and geeky without hitting you over the head with it. Geek Chic. Casually Nerd. That’s where I live. I especially loved that this is a piece I can wear to the office and only my fellow geeks will catch on to. Needless to say, this was one of my ‘must haves’ the minute they announced it and clearly that meant I had to put together an outfit post.
Star Wars Cardigan: Her Universe
Dress: kate spade
Black Pumps: Coach
Earrings: Betsey Johnson
For sizing reference, Bria is wearing a medium in the cardigan so it can comfortably button. Also as an fyi, please note that this cardigan is not made of a sweater material like the TARDIS and Xavier’s ones but rather of a thicker cotton.
Her Universe branched out into winter/holiday themed dresses this year and I couldn’t be more excited! While I’ll always be a proud member of the Rebellion, I couldn’t resist buying this adorable Vader and Stormtrooper dress and then wearing it to the office for our holiday party! While I did wear it with a cardigan, I found it to be a great and reasonably subtle way to be geeky during the holiday season. (I probably wouldn’t wear it on a usual business day in the office but for a holiday party, I think it worked great!)
Imperial Winter Dress: Her Universe
Hunter Green Tights: Express
Earrings: kate spade
Patent Heels: Coach
For sizing purposes, Bria is wearing a small in the Imperial dress. The fit seems to be along the lines of the Han Solo dress which she previous got in a medium. If you’re wondering about length, Bria’s just shy of 5’7″.
Work still requires a professional dress code so that means I’m still looking for ways to sneak a little geek into my outfits. A few months ago, I picked up this scarf on sale from Coach because I liked the color and belatedly realized that it was totally Targaryen. (That, of course, wasn’t a problem.) If I’m honest, this outfit totally came together by accident but I liked it enough that it seemed worthy of a WAYW and sharing with all of you.
Red and Black Scale Print Scarf: Coach
Black Button Down: Express
Grey Pencil Skirt: Express
Black Boots: Cole Haan
