Oh come on. Don’t pretend that you didn’t know this was coming.
By some miracle, we were able to reunite earlier this month for a few short days. We knew that Uncanny X-Force Week was coming up and decided to make sure we did outfits together. Who else were we going to pick besides Betsy and Cluster? After all, when we do photoshoots together, the visual fanfic just writes itself. We gave up being sorry. Just mentally photoshop in the champagne glasses.

Because the comic gods have seen fit to rip one of our most beloved books from our grasp, we’re honouring its end in the only way we know how: Welcome to Uncanny X-Force Week.
Our girl Betsy Braddock, star of this whole comic book bang up show. To get this champagne party started, we tip our snapbacks to Phil Noto’s model art piece — but fashion casting is no longer London 1982, but New York now and model streetstyle is lazy A. Wang post-show inspo and our lady of Soo Joo as reigning queen of frontpage hair.
We’ll never let go of the purple, though. It complements our hot pink power signature bracelet too well.

What’s a girl to do when she adores the hell out of Psylocke’s new costume but she’s terrible at sewing spandex? Redesign it as a dress obviously.
Look, this is basically my love letter to Uncanny X-Force. And also a giant fistbump to Sam Humphries and Kris Anka for writing a kickass book and designing a kickass costume respectively. (My bad for misleading you about why I wanted to know what the leg shapes looked like, Anka, my bad.) I adore the hell out of Betsy’s new costume and I adore the hell out of this crazy book. It was either this or keyboard smashing incoherently. I swear I’ll get around to make the actual costume one day. Promise!
Just pretend that there’s a bottle of expensive French champagne in these photos as I toast the book and my darling Betsy.

There were some slight changes made when translating the dress from my original sketch to real life (due in part to a difficult pattern and an epic battle with a zipper where the zipper won) but I am mostly happy with how it turned out although I’ll probably do a second pass at it/fix some small issues when I’m not angry at the zipper.

Wait, did you just say that you’re not reading Uncanny X-Force? Get thee to Comixology or a comic book store right now!
We bat for Team Braddock here at White Hot Room and love all of our Captains so this post was bound to happen. After Lin did her time during the Marvel NOW launch posts, I figured that it was my turn to take a ride on the douchebag train and what better way to do that than wear a giant flag t-shirt? It’s okay though, I tried to tone it down with the blazer and the hair ribbon. Yeah, I’m not sure if the ribbon helped or not either. Anyways, this was a fun outfit to do! Gotta show some love for Brian Braddock and the rest of the Excaliber and British crew!

Betsy Braddock, our girl. She is and always will be our favourite British model turned superhero badass. When Lin’s Katsucon costume plans changed and she decided to bring her Psylocke, it was only a matter of time until Bria was roped into doing the same — welcome to double Uncanny X-Force across the sky.
We had a great time shooting with Lionel Lum, who certainly put us through our paces when it came to posing. All thanks go to him for these great shots!
