For those who’ve been following the blog for a while, you remember how this Sailor Hawkeye game went the first time around. My friend Abby had done her own version of Sailor Black Widow and asked me reprise Sailor Hawkeye for her Sailor Avengers team. Since this team was veering a little more away from the traditional Sailor Moon fuku, I decided to have a little fun with it and make Version II to make hers.
The really cool part was that I was able to reuse parts of not only Hawkeye Version I but also a piece of my Sailor Pluto and even some bits of my Star Wars costumes. The skirt was the one big new part of the costume but thankfully I am a fabric hoarder and still had enough of the purple bow fabric to use for the skirt roll.
Thank you to David Harback for the photography on the majority of these and to Rich and Strange for the photography on the captioned one! They were both wonderful to work with when we did this shoot at Awesome Con! (The con thing is also why there’s an invisible arrow thing going on…)

Sailor Black Widow: Abby Rou Cosplay
How much do I love Kris Anka’s new Spider-Woman design? So. Freaking. Much. I’ve been a fan of Jessica Drew since I first really got to know her in the New Avengers comics. Her old costume was well known and all but there’s something about the street level versatility of this jacket and glasses that just calls to me, y’know? Needless to say, it went on the ‘must cosplay’ list immediately.
Oh and also? If you’re not reading this book, you are doing yourself a disservice. Go pick it up already.
Thank you to Justin for doing a shoot with me at Awesome Con this year!

Expect to see some upgrades to this costume in the future including some appropriately colored boots. (No glove changes though. I like being able to use my phone.)
Awesome Con is this weekend and it’s going to be totally awesome! As you may have guessed from the image above, I’m taking it easy on the cosplay front this convention but I will be rocking some cute Her Universe fashion on Sunday to compensate. I’ll be roaming around the convention almost from the start on Friday and covering the con for Tosche Station. If you see me, please come say hi.
The two places you’ll definitely be able to find me will be on Sunday on the two panels I’m running. At 11am in Room 145B, I’ll be chatting about Diversity in Pop Culture with Amy Ratcliffe and Esther of Fantom Comics. Then later at 3:30pm in Room 156, it’ll be all things Star Wars as I discuss the State of the Galaxy with John Morton, Amy Ratcliffe, Anna Mitchell, and Jay Shah. If you’re still not convinced, we’ll have plenty of giveaways courtesy of Del Rey including tons of the Samplers they had at Celebration and copies of all of their thus far published books.
