Come on, folks. You know me by now. I AM PREDICTABLE WITH THINGS LIKE THIS. Back in May, some friends of mine attended Origins and got to see this cover. Obviously, they all tweeted me at once with the news and then I had to wait impatiently for DelRay to release the artwork. (It was a reeeeally long couple of weeks.) As soon as I saw the art, I knew I had to make this costume. Of course, I had to wait until after Dragon*Con but once I got home I started working on this immediately. I just love how the jacket looks so much even if trying to recreate it has been a pain.
Some of the pictures are from when the costume was still a work in progress. I had the opportunity to get some pictures taken at a really awesome location for Basement Con III and just couldn’t pass up the chance especially since I was shooting with my favourite photographer, Heather of House Zhobot.
I did, however, finish making all of my improvements to it in time for Katsucon 2013! It was my first time trying embroidery on the sewing machine and I’m rather happy with how it came out especially since I had to do it freehand.
