I have a lot of feelings about how perfect Hera Syndulla and Kanan Jarrus are together but they are totally Space Married, okay?
For those who don’t follow us on tumblr (although you probably should), I recently teamed up with a friend because we really wanted to have a bunch of different Star Wars t-shirts in our drawers but didn’t really see the market filling that void so we started designing our own. One of them is this #SpaceMarried shirt celebrating our new favorite OTP and partnership. I was so psyched when it got here that I had to pull together a casual outfit with it. And then share it with all of you.
We’re always a little California dreamin’ when it comes to our favourite Miss Jubilation Lee, and not even a dash of vampirism will dampen these spirits. With the announcement that she’s been added to the cast of X-Men: Apocalypse, we’re super hype to see our little loudmouth grace the screen again. (Are we also super hype to see what this girl is gonna wear? Maybe.) Meanwhile, some character colourpop lightens up into easy wear pastels, and her sleek modern black (and the occasional sleeve if you must) to brave the day.
Let me count the ways in which I love Leia Organa… oh wait I can’t because there are way too many of them. What I don’t always love so much is her wardrobe especially when it came to the Expanded Universe. Cover artists tended to just… give her the same outfits from the films and that’s just boring. When the Essential Reader’s Companion came out in fall 2012, I immediately fell in love with that half body shot of Leia facing off against Xizor. Within the text, she’s described as wearing galactic couture which just shouted my name.
Oh. And did I mention that she knees Xizor in the balls while wearing this? (I kid you not; it’s literally in the Shadows of the Empire text. I LOVE IT.)
…and because we are a bunch of nerds… this happened. With Anna’s commentary:
You may not have noticed, but we are all about our comic book teens — especially if they go to a school of where the weird is bound to go down. From the minute DC Comics announced this book, we were super excited and immediately added it to our pull lists… and then dragged our friends Erin and Ceratopian into this beautiful mess with us.
(But did you see that cast. That was a cast pitch perfect for us. There may have been the most delighted yelling involved.)
Matching plaids was crazy impossible but we had a lot of fun coordinating amongst ourselves to pull these costumes together, especially when we got to add in each character’s individual spin. We may have been exhausted by the time we got to wear these at Katsucon but we still had fun!
Thank you to Jeremy for the photography!
How many beautiful gifts did Spider-Verse leave behind for us? Let’s start with Spider-Gwen, and let’s hope this is a gift that keeps on giving. We love her modern minimalism, the pop of colour, and we’re gonna bring that out in a city girl kinda way.
