This is part three of my never ending love letter to Maya Lopez aka Echo aka Ronin. I just can’t help it, okay? Before anyone asks, yes, that is the top that I use for my Echo costume. When I originally bought the top that I used as the base a few years ago, I thought it’d be fun to wear with something high waisted. And hey! I finally followed through with it.
Thank you again to Heather of Zhobot for the photography!

This is a costume that’s been in the plans since late 2012, got postponed when one of the Legacy creators cancelled from attending the convention I planned this for, was mostly sewn over the summer because I was bored, and then finally got its big day at Katsucon 2014! When I first read the original volume of Star Wars: Legacy, I immediately fell in love with Princess Marasiah Fel. I loved everything about her but most especially her attitude. This comic is definitely on my list of ones to reread this year!
Seriously: getting to be super distant space cousins with Nic as Ania Solo was tons of fun! Both Legacy series don’t get nearly enough love and it was awesome every time someone recognized who either I or both of us were.
One of the things that made Katsucon 2014 so special was the impromptu Star Wars gathering that happened on Saturday afternoon. On Friday, the Zhobot duo and I met the fabulous Jaina and Jag cosplayers below and needless to say, we got really excited. Us being us, we told them about our Expanded Universe plans for the following afternoon and they agreed to meet up for a mini shoot. When the lightsabers turned on though, it was like a batsignal for every other Star Wars costumer in the building and our minishoot doubled in size within minutes. Honestly, I couldn’t have been more thrilled.
Thank you to Zhobot for the photography!
We did, however, get a big kick out of taking “family portraits” with family members both near and distant.
Spring fever has got us swapping out the heavies for something a little more sun inclined. With some new May Fourth designs on the way from Black Milk Clothing, it seemed a good a time as any to get into the spirit of things — afterall, nothing says spring fling like red five standing by.

What can we say — if she wears the star, our hearts are set. Nothing gets us going like a face turned toward the stars and a thirst for more, and the lady legacy of all Captains Marvel will always take us there. For superheroic cosmic style we turn to colourblocking and particular gold accents, and serve it up with a star.
Want more Captain Marvel? It’s kinda a thing we do.
Awesome Con 2014 in Washington DC is this weekend and Bria is totally psyched! She’s keeping it simple this time with a roster of Star Wars and X-men. As always, if you see her, feel free to come up and say hi!
Friday Afternoon: Look for the X-Factor group!
Saturday: In the morning, Bria will be Jaina Solo for a Young Jedi Knights group. She’ll also be on an ~awesome~ panel discussing Star Wars with Timothy Zahn, John ‘Dak’ Morton, and Blue Milk Special from 1:30-2:30 in Room 206. Later in the day, she’ll be switching back to Marvel as Sage.
Sunday: To wrap up the con, Bria will be roaming in an upgraded version of her Mara Jade.
