We’ll return to your regularly scheduled posts in a little bit but we just wanted to say how absolutely gutted we both are to hear about the passing of Star Wars author Aaron Allston. He wrote some of our favorite books and was a wonderful man who we both had the pleasure of meeting at multiple conventions. We could never say anything but good things about him and we are fortunate to have had the chance to have met and talked with him.
Rest In Peace, good sir.
In case you didn’t know, your esteemed editors work for SHIELD in their spare time (and every year at Dragon*Con) so it only makes sense that we’d come to this eventually. Every SHIELD Agent knows that the key to surviving a briefing by Nick Fury is to accessorize appropriately. Harness, aviators, and eagles everywhere are absolutely standard issue.
If you’re looking to get the SHIELD feel by color alone then just remember that the combination of either black and white or navy and white is golden.
And the aviators. Don’t forget the aviators.
Katsucon? Time to spacesuit up like only the Saints can and boy were these the perfect costumes for the weather.
Me and the fine folks of Sew&Bro/Zhobot have been pretty obsessed with Saints Row IV since its release back in August and it was really only a matter of time before we decided to make another set of costumes for the characters. I loved Asha Odekar in the game so freaking much that I just want to do all of her costumes now.
These costumes came together over the course of a few marathon patterning and sewing sessions and everyone pitched in to help. I’ll admit though: there’s a chance that I might’ve been a bit in character those days and pushed us pretty hard to get the patches done.
Don’t ever ask about the crotch patches. Never. At the end of the day though, we were all thrilled with how the suits came out and felt pretty darn badass wearing them around the Gaylord!

Need some more of the Saints in your life? Make sure you head over to Sew&Bro for some more Saints goodness and then check back in a few weeks for a super post.
It’s no small deal when your esteemed editors can get together and high five each other in the face. Every opportunity to throw on ridiculous friendship sister outfits is an opportunity to be relished, and it was only natural that we wanted to reprise our Captain Marvel and Spider-Woman looks while we had a bit of Katsucon downtime because how perfect together??
Pretty perfect together.
Thank you to Lionel for the pictures!! <3
When Star Wars and Fashion Week intersect, that basically has our name written all over it. If you hadn’t heard yet, Fashion Week in New York and then in London took viewers to a galaxy far far away with Rodarte and Preen featuring looks with some Force behind them.
The looks might not use the iconic images in the most inventive of ways but it does hint at the movies becoming a fashion trend this fall. That, of course, bodes well for us geek ladies. ;)
A look at some of the designs from Preen:
As for the rest of Fashion Week? We’ll watch those shows with great interest.
