[DIY] Closet Cosplay: Mako Mori — Pacific Rim
So we high fived Pacific Rim so hard we thought we were gonna die, and it’s no surprise that Mako Mori is the leading lady of our collective hearts. And what more can we ask for in a comfort costume than pants and pockets? Nothing. We can ask for nothing more.
We’re totally 4-4 for this and you can be, too. Here’s a guide for those not so hot with the sewing skills:
Military surplus right around the corner? Rad. But for those less lucky, here’s a few to go by. Just remember that lady fashion cargo pants tend to be more fitted, so opt for a larger size. Look for one set of outside pockets, belt loops, and a blue-toned dark grey.
Basic ribbed tank in a warm charcoal black or midnight navy, with a white overlock trim running along the neckline, down both sides, and in a U-shape on the upper back. Look to colour match against the cargo pants — the tank is darker and less saturated.
We suspect that barefoot training is a no-go, so let’s get the combat boots from her intro into this thing.
Dog tags tucked in; double grommet fabric belt with a PPDC buckle; angled black bob with a peek of royal blue. While you can go full cosplay and get the belt buckle done and the dog tags to spec like Raleigh’s seen here, here’s a few easy fixes:
Ready to cancel the apocalypse? We sure are! You can also look for Lin kicking around Dragon*Con this Labour Day weekend as Mako Mori — feel free to talk to her about giant robots!
